Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos to jeden z najważniejszych zabytków Kordoby. Budowa tego kompleksu obronnego została zlecona przez króla Alfonsa XI w 1328 roku. Oferuje on zwiedzającym wspaniałe ogrody i dziedzińce, które zachowują oryginalne tradycje. To jedno z najczęściej odwiedzanych miejsc w mieście, obok meczetu i synagogi. W 1931 roku został uznany za dobro kulturowe i jest częścią historycznego centrum Kordoby, które z kolei zostało wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO w 1994 roku. Monarchowie katoliccy spędzili w tej fortecy ponad osiem lat i stąd przewodzili kampanią przeciwko Emiratowi Granady. W Torre del Homenaje Krzysztof Kolumb poprosił o fundusze na swoją morską wyprawę w 1486 roku.
