Beskrivning

Den karga kusten i västra Algarve är full av dramatiska klippor som skyddar mot sandiga vikar och karaktärsfulla städer. På den här utflykten har du gott om tid att utforska den historiska staden Lagos och se några av Algarves mest pittoreska platser och fiskebyn Baleeira. Beatriz, en av våra kunniga lokalguider, säger: "Lagos har en lång historia och var en gång i tiden en viktig knutpunkt för sjöfarten på 1400-talet under den portugisiska upptäcktstiden. Du får en känsla av dess historia när du vandrar genom gamla stan på mönstrade kullerstensgator flankerade av vackra byggnader."

Staden Lagos ligger skyddad vid en flodmynning och har ett utmärkt läge vid stranden och inom räckhåll för allt det fantastiska landskapet. Få din kulturfix med en rundtur i Lagos stad, samt lite ledig tid för att njuta av de livliga gatorna och kaféerna. På den guidade rundturen besöker man Praça do Infante för att se Henrik Sjöfararens staty och den byggnad som fungerade som Portugals första slavmarknad. Efteråt kan du välja att äta lunch, shoppa eller utforska staden.

Därefter åker vi till Sagres för att beundra fästningen från 1400-talet, där du kan utforska området och beundra den imponerande arkitekturen samtidigt som du får lära dig mer om regionens sjöfartshistoria. Dessutom besöker vi Cabo de São Vicente, även känd som "världens ände" - Europas sydvästligaste punkt. Som avslutning på dagen får du njuta av ännu mer panoramautsikt över fiskehamnen i Baleeira.

Overall, the tour was really informative, and our guide was very knowledgeable. However, the tour was conducted in both English and French, which made it take longer than expected. At times it felt a bit slow or repetitive and we often reached the sights before getting the explanation in our language. It would be good to check with your rep beforehand if the tour is offered purely in English. Also, it would have been a nice touch if bottled water and rain macs were provided, just a small gesture
